Recover Lost Files In Xp

recover lost files in xp
how can I recover my files after re-installing Win XP?

As my computer only run in safe mode,I made a DVD copy of my configuration(guided by the windows assistent) and then I’ve reinstalled Win XP. Now, my computer runs perfectly, but I have lost all my files and I don’t now how to recover them from the copy I’ve made before reinstalling Win.
When I introduce the DVD, it tells me it is an UDF file and it can’t run it because the configuration is not correct and I should reinstall the application…

Hmm.. If you made a copy of your configuration with guidance of the windows assistant, then most likely your data is gone. Any backup/burning utilities that are built into XP are pretty much worthless. What you should have done was to burn your personal data (documents, pictures, etc.) to CD or DVD using Nero or Roxio (Data CD/DVD Project) or you could have backed it up to an external Hard drive or even a USB Thumb drive depending on how much data. Failing to take the proper procedure in the first place resulted in your data loss. Can you see any files on this DVD and if so, what do you see?
