Please help! How to recover lost data after computer crash and reinstalling windows 7?
My Asus laptop was working fine yesterday and when I turn it on today it kept saying “BOOTMGR is missing..press Alt Ctrl Delete to reboot.” After rebooting it goes back to the same screen.
So then I tried using Startup recovery, it didn’t solve the problem. After many other attempts, my only option left was to use Recovery Partition, which pretty much turn my whole laptop into factory condition and all my data were wiped out. I am using Asus K52J, Windows 7, 64bits. I have tried programs such as Restoration and PhotoRec but still no luck. I lost 500gb of data and I’m feeling very depressed at the moment. lol. Any help would be appreciated.
As Michael said below: “Usually a file isn’t “gone” until that area of the physical disk is overwritten by other data.”
I know this is true for XP because I have helped my friend recover his lost data a few years ago, but is it the same for Windows 7? because I have use the recovery program I used before but nothing was found.
Once you reinstall the O/S, all hope is gone for restoring your data.
