Ntfs Recovery Boot Disk

ntfs recovery boot disk
d600 laptop with xp home wireless card will not boot?

I have no recovery disc, and don’t know were to go to download one on another pc. message: wind. could not start following file is missing or corrupt system32/drivers/ntfs.sys have no clue what to do please help grandaughters laptop, and i’m pc illiterate

Hello,

(ANS) No.1 The error message “missing or corrupt” NTFS.SYS means the NTFS file system driver is damaged and so windows XP will not be able to load the disk or operating system. It cannot load the NTFS file system indexes or the master file table or file allocation table either.

No.2 This cannot be fixed by F8 Last known good method, nor can it be fixed by system restore either.

No.3 However, this can be fixed by running a “NON DESTRUCTIVE” Re-installation of windows XP home. This is also sometimes called an OS refresh, basically this re-installs XP over the present damaged copy and thus it replaces any & all damaged or corrupt or missing files required by the operating system. The benefit of this method is that it repairs XP and it keeps you personal data in tact, keeps your security settings in tact to, keeps all your installed programs in tact too. You should end up with a complete and fully working copy of XP after this re-install if you follow the instructions found on the following website:-

SEE: (step by step instructions on how to do a non destructive re-installation) NOTE:- There is no re-formatting required here & no repartitioning of the disks either).

http://www.informationweek.com/news/windows/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=189400897

NOTE:- You will need a genuine copy of XP on CD disk and you will need a genuine MS XP product key otherwise this wont work. You may need to re-activate XP after the installation, & you might need to re-install any service packs like SP2 or SP3.

Hope that helps?

Kind Regards Ivan
