can any one help me with my compaq MAXTOR D740X-6L 20 gig hdd?

i have a compaq maxtor D740X-6L 20 gig hdd i need some help with i need to know whare i can find the jumper setings to put it in to repair mode and ware i can find repair software for it on the web for free it is makeing funny humming and clicking sounds it never made be and it will not show up un my computer i need to know how to get it in to repair mode so it will show up under my compter and i can start the free recovery soft ware to find all of the data on the hdd can any one help me please thank you

I recommend calling customer service from the Maxtor website because when I tried to search for support on their website, it bounced me to seagate’s website. So there may have been a buyout or something. And it was non-obvious how to get any help on Maxtor specifically.

Personally I hate Maxtor. They die, suddenly and badly, and often. But that’s just my personal experience. So you may be able to find help for it by calling them up.
