How to do system recovery?
I have windows XP, which is infected with a rogue software. I can not get rid of it. It just popped up as “free scanning for viruses, spyware, pop up blocker etc.” Foolishly, I allowed it do it. It showed a bunches of things to be cleaned out, which I think is all B.S. It said that for $139, it will protect my PC for one year. I clicked on NO. Now it has invaded and occupied my PC. Each time I boot it up, a biohazard sign comes up and says that my PC is terribly infected, etc. and it needs immediated attention, and it freezes up completely. I ca not do anything with the PC any more.
I am prepared to clean out my hard drive and restart with my system recovery DVD which came with the computer. But when I boot up my computer, it freezes up. When I start my System Recovery software, nothing happens.
How do I get my computer back? what should I do without taking it to the Geek squard for $99.00?
