Are there free system recovery programs on the web?

I was just wondering if there were any free programes on the web that will wipe out your computer while still maintaing the operating system. I cannot seem to find my system recovery disc, so I am trying to find other solutions. Re-Formatting the Hard Drive is out of the question because I do not have a XP operating system disc. Thanks for the help.
