Exactly what happens during a full HP Pavilion restore?
I have owned an HP Pavilion for some time now. I bought the dv6899ee around July this year and have been using it constantly since then. It’s been a while though, that I have wanted to format it. HP Recovery is included, but I don’t know what will happen if I use it. Will it automatically install my drivers for me? I know I’ll lose all of the data I have stored on it and I don’t mind that. But what will I lose from the programs that came installed on it? Can I download everything for free again? Or are there some programs I won’t be able to get back. Also, the imprint on the laptop is a special edition and I get a few wallpapers to go with the design…will I lose them?
Help! I’m desperate to restore it…
HP gives the option of restoring the computer to its mint stage. You also have the option of creating your restoration disks.
If you have used this option and created the restore disks, then you can use these and get your computer back to the day when you created the disks. You will get the programs and settings you had when you created the disks.
If you want to restore from the restore disk provided by the manufacturer, then you would lose all the data, programs and settings that you installed after you bought your computer.
You can install your favorite programs if you have the installer disks/files.
