I stuffed my computer! “bootmgr is missing”?
Ok, I was running Linux on my windows 7 Enterprise using VMware, after a long time I rebooted my laptop and it gave me “Bootmgr is missing” And i don’t have the Windows 7 Disc with me to repair it.
So what I did was I booted Linux from my USB flash drive and I was installing linux on my flash drive instead of keeping the ISO file that can’t save changes.. but now when i turn on my laptop it boots up linux. I thought i was installing the linux on my flas drive but instead it did it on my hdd.
But still I have Windows 7 somewhere. and also i can see my files too.. so what should I do now? How can i get rid of Linux mint 8 and still get the Bootmgr is missing so i can use the repair disc later.
I was half sleep when i was doing it. Was having my dumb moments I guess.
No, System recovery doesn’t work.

How can I get rid of Linux mint 8 ?
As machine boots, tap F8 to get boot options, select safe mode with command prompt.(not sure if this will work with an unbootable system, however, read on for help if this happens) At the command prompt type “Fixboot” without the quotes. If that doesn’t work , try “bootrec /fixboot” again without the quotes and note the space between “bootrec” and the forward slash.
Not sure if this will work in Win7 or with bootmgr missing- it may not allow boot to safe mode, but without your disc that you can boot from to do this repair, it is the best I can suggest.
There are third party recovery discs about and they are usually free, so don’t buy one. They are free because the windows kernel they use is open source, I believe and no copyright is infringed using this on it’s own.
